ABOUT SEA OF GLASS

Sea of Glass Art Works began when a boy who liked to sketch and draw discovered the beauty of stained glass at his father’s antique store. The 1970s was a period of time when there was demolition of beautiful architecture in the Milwaukee area but my dad had an appreciation for the ornate stained glass windows, iron work, ceramic tile, terracotta, wood carvings and hardware. Whatever could be salvaged was put on display at the antique store.

My uncle was an artist and craftsman and began to repair the various damaged windows that were brought in the store. As I grew older my uncle noticed my interest in the stained glass windows and taught me how to cut glass. We began a teacher-apprentice relationship and eventually I was designing and building windows for display and sale at the antique store. People noticed the work and would ask if we also repair broken stained glass. I began doing more repair than making windows and really enjoyed the appreciation people expressed when their windows were repaired.

It has now been over 40 years since I began working with glass and I still enjoy helping customers to see their windows restored to their original beauty.
